The Oluokos family is deeply rooted in the ethos of Oluokos Signature, a travel and lifestyle brand that focuses on eco-friendly and sustainable luxury tourism. The family has a rich history and a strong commitment to conservation and responsible travel.
The story of Oluokos Signature began in 2013 when the CEO, Ouma Oluoko, set up a small walking safari outfit in Naivasha, Kenya. Over time, this niche enterprise grew, driven by Ouma’s passion for walking and bird watching safaris. The company expanded its operations to include luxury safaris, cultural immersions, eco-tours, and more, all while maintaining a focus on sustainability and community engagement through tourism.
At Oluokos, we believe in the importance of family values and has passed down our operations modules to our children, who are already involved in luxury holiday planning, bird watching and nature conservation. This family-oriented approach helps us to cultivate a climate of attentiveness, nurturing, and inclusivity, ensuring a holistic development of the business.
The family’s dedication to responsible luxury travel and conservation has made Oluokos Signature a trusted name in the travel industry, providing travelers with unforgettable experiences while making a positive impact on the environment and our host communities.
Our family’s past and present foundation is deeply rooted in Africa’s wildlife, communities and travel. To the Oluokos, Africa’s diverse beauty only complements our passion for nature. Ouma Oluoko discovered his passion for Kenya’s wonders while working for the UK based overland companies and this introduced him to multiple countries in east Africa.
Christine on the other hand fell in love with Africa’s charm when she met Ouma Oluoko who introduced her to a series of destinations and attractions while on safari. Apart from her love for the elephants, Christine also cherishes the sweet taste of local and international cuisine, especially the Ugandan food. Christine’s knowledge goes deeper, from the hot air balloon in the Maasai Mara, to going on a night game drive and also, braving the rough waters of Lake Victoria in Uganda while going to spot the Shoebill at the Mabamba Wetlands! In the early 1990s, Iris joined Jordan in managing the company. Together, our vast knowledge and shared passion at Oluokos weaves some of the swankiest and impactful Africa safari luxury itineraries.
We have nurtured Oluokos Signature with integrity and care and built a business that reflects our deep passion for the planet and its people. Our daughters and sons – known as “The Oluokos Kids”, each bring their unique experiences to the family business. Alain, at his tender age is more keen on itineraries and ICT and many times checks on if our website is doing okay in terms of completion. Enrique, an avid aspiring young birder with a dedication to wildlife protection, captures the beauty of Kenya while advocating for its preservation that must include both flora and fauna. Ivy’s focus and work relations shines through with constant reminders of what should have been put to place at the right time. While the youngest, Taya, followed his father’s example in the strictness of time keeping and implementation, continuing the Oluokos family’s tradition of unlimited potentials.
Travelling with Oluokos is about embracing local cultures, living authentic experiences and forging incredible long term friendships. We pride ourselves on offering travellers freedom on all of our Africa luxury trips, but these rules don’t bend and Oluokos won’t hesitate to straighten any bends in real time
